You have no choice. You give Betty the real Continuum Transfunctioner, which he immediately activates. The countdown begins, and Heather rushes to you, holding you tight.
Betty laughs his evil laugh. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Now you humans will know the pain that we've felt since our inception! We just have to wait for this timer that conviently give you enough time to stop us if you really wanted to."
You aren't paying attention to him, though. All of your attention is on Heather, the love of your life.
She cries on your shoulder, her entire body shaking. "Default? I don't wanna die..." The words are barely even coming out at this point, and the timer's down to its final seconds.
"I wish I had met you sooner so we could've spent more time together..." she cries between sobs.
If you had acted sooner, you might've been able to stop Betty's plan. He practically invited you to do it. But you didn't act. Instead, you wanted to be with Heather for your last few moments instead of trying to prevent the end of the universe so you two could spend a full life together.
But that ship has sailed, and there're only precious seconds left before you die.
